Plagiarizing Phrases 2011

Plagiarizing Phrases

I plagiarize the phrases

That I recognize as me,

My inmost tendencies.

I could not say it better

And it’s all been said before.

It’s all been said,

And there’s not that much to add.

In praise of someone

That you like,

Like Baker Nicholson’s Size of Thoughts

“utterly idiosyncratic”…

…‘noticing things that no one else does’

Well, I think that’s me,

And by the way,

It’s from The Village Voice,

The Rolls Royce of discrimination.

In my estimation.

All those things, like

“universal and eccentric”…

playful, large and small…

well,

If I steal a praise,

(I mean a phrase)

I’m just in practice

For accepting,

Just accepting.

Dry Title, Exciting Content 2011

Dry Title, Exciting Content

Full of imagery

The poet names; names that I,

Concrete as street,

Concrete as feet,

Cannot connect and never buy.

Electrifying is an essence,

Evocative, what sings

the mind

Which makes the thought,

Creating dithyramb and sonnet,

Troubadour and laureate.

Muse that muses uses thought

To give up thought

To come to truth.

Titles howsoever dry,

Can modify.

Titles howsoever dry,

Change lives.

Repeat 2011

Repeat

It’s like a mantra –

All this repetition.

Working out and on…

It could be madness in another.

Not in me:

I’m too concrete.

That I repeat

Has meaning even I

Don’t penetrate.

I do not hate it -

I accept and carry on,

Presuming its importance.

Perhaps each has its nuance

Never there before.

Not going round in circles –

More.  But I,

Who make no effort to deny it,

Let it come

From…

Where, it doesn’t matter.

Cells that chatter also have importance

To the peace and power and bliss –

And the knowledge giving this.

Repeating, Repeating 2011

Repeating, Repeating

Are we all like that?

Repeating till we think

We’ve got it right?

Varying the details –

Sometimes not?

Confirmation?  Working out?

Learning?

Lazy habit?

Oh, this brain!

Somewhat Aphasic 2010

      Somewhat Aphasic

Somewhat aphasic,

Not a speaker,

I can write instead,

And do

Because I’m slow

And need the time.

Do I dare an interview?

TV program literary,

Authors answering so cleverly?

I, sent back to, running to

The paper, my

imaginary reader

In my in my mind my sites,

To play with word, idea rhythm,

Played out

                               one against the other.

Notes from the Overground: Thoughts On Touring 2010

Notes from the Overground: Thoughts On Touring

Book, cd, performance, what!

I do not want to tour.

An effort that I could, if forced

But see through the illusions:

All-inclusive energies –

Pushing, meeting, signing,

Introducing, marketing;

Hidden bragging

Sell and spread.

Every night a hotel bed.

That!

Everybody’s doing it.

Television’s full of it:

Reputation in a wink –

They think.

There is no quick.

Success invalid,

Success a pallid despot

With a jealous eye

Towards quick eternity:

We want to be remembered.

It’s genetic – since the days we were Neanderthals

(DNA 3-4%)

Confirmation from the grip, grope, group

That grabs you by the gargling throat.

It’s poetry

That’s fun.

Connecting 2010

Connecting

I make the connection -

Then I write.

You do it again!

I think some thoughts,

A kind of sending;

People call,

Form,

A poem;

Artistry, inventiveness,

Day enhanced.

Questions answered.

Who could ask for more-m?

(I liked the rhyme).

You use what is around you and you make it into something universal.

You use what is around you and you make it into something universal.

      A Vehicle Of Truth

I send you a spark;

Spark to spark

From lingonberry hills

Surrounding.

A reminder; moment’s sending;

A surrender in the sending.

Visions, no –

But I can see, I can imagine,

I can think.

And with the little that I know

I can distil – and do.

A central point;

Two central points;

Two points: me, you,

You, me.

I analyze unconsciously,

A moment’s yes, my distillation:

Turning up-

Side/inside down and out.

And sending one lone spark.

Thesaurus 2010

             Thesaurus

She reads, she hears.

The stuff goes in

And does its thing.

Pebbles grind to sand.

Transformation,

All its nuance:

Changes; major, minor –

Modified in any case.

Alteration, metastasis,

Mutation of the brain, the gene, the DNA.

In the end transmognified:

Metamorphosis.

That’s the way it works.

Applying Ernest Wood 2010

               Applying Ernest Wood

The artist in his limitation

Uses will, thought and affection;

Has ideas that someone needs.

Uses will to form intention.

Voice, the song, the pen or paper:

Tools to use: the thought computer.

Done - the form released.

That special act of concentration eased,

He’s pleased.
